She said yes!!
A Love Story
When Marc was young, he wanted to be a doctor; through the skin of his teeth, he got into the Engineering School at Cornell. Marisa on the other hand, had no idea what she wanted to do, so she simply picked Cornell, a good school that she “could have fun at.” At Cornell, Marc and Marisa met in a 12 person writing class, but Marc was too preoccupied to notice her. Throughout college, Marc and Marisa never really crossed paths again – Marc was building computer programs and rockets, while Marisa was building social skills at Johnny O’s (yet still maintaining straight A's).
Many years later, Marc swiped right on a “fun loving and adventurous” girl who liked “cooking, travel, and yoga.” Marisa swiped on a programmer who loved travel, making sourdough bread, and dressed reasonably well. Little did she know, polos were just for pictures. Marisa politely declined coffee as a first date and suggested drinks. After she arrived in typical late Marisa fashion, she started drilling the waitress on tequila options, which was the first thing Marc noticed – this girl has good taste.
The first few months of their relationship progressed in Marisa time, which is to say super slowly. However, as all love stories go, they went from seeing each other occasionally to being apart occasionally. Maybe doing the NYTimes “The 36 Questions That Lead to Love” predicted this, but they like to think that it just moved things along. By early January 2017, they were living together in Marisa’s studio. Less than a year later they were engaged.
On September 8th, 2017, Marisa came home to almost a thousand pictures telling their love story and covering every wall in what has been dubbed a Carrie Mathison-esque look. When she walked in, their song was playing and together they slowly and tearfully paused to look back at their lives together thus far. Marc then got down on one knee and proposed. As a final surprise, they went up to the roof where the Lusthaus and Udoff families were waiting to celebrate with Tequila and craft beer.
